That morning, most of his family had taken a bus to a political meeting in another town. Gabriel really wanted to go, but he couldn't. Very upset, he had to get back to the quilombo with us. At dusk, some younger children were bathing in the river. Gabriel went along and quickly changed his figure. He was beaming again, playing in front of the camera. With each look we exchanged, a different jump, pose and dive.
